A Boatload of Cute (10 Pictures)

October 15th, 2012 2 comments

A poster on Reddit came across this pile of cuteness while out camping with his dog and a few friends.

The dog was running around the boat like crazy whimpering and I couldn’t figure out why.

She went in to investigate more closely…

When suddenly…KITTENS!

Neglected Ducks Swim for the First Time

October 8th, 2012 No comments

Looks like every one of those birds took to that pond…like a duck to water.

For the first time in their lives two dozen recently rescued ducks get their first taste of life in a pond. They had been living for years with a hoarder who had them in pens without adequate access to water or proper nutrition.

For more on this heartfelt story head over to the Woodstock Sanctuary, where you can donate to their cause too.

Injured Baby Squirrel Wearing a Tiny Purple Cast

March 7th, 2012 2 comments

This might put you into an aww-induced coma.

This baby squirrel suffered injuries to her leg and was separated from her mother when she fell from a tree – and she is not even three weeks old. The grey squirrel, called Violet, endured the ordeal when the branch her nest (known as a drey) was laying on was cut down. Fortunately, the couple cutting down the tree spotted Violet and immediately phoned the Wildlife Aid Foundation for advice on what to do. The foundation, based in Leatherhead, Surrey, took her in, bandaged her leg, and have been feeding her a special milk formula, similar to that her mother would have provided.

Baby Elephant After Being Rescued From a Moat

January 27th, 2012 No comments

This poor little 1-month-old baby elephant was rescued from a deep moat surrounding a palm oil plantation in Malaysia. I wouldn’t mind if he came to live in my backyard. No danger of moats there.

Wildlife officials attend to a pygmy elephant calf on Borneo island in Malaysia’s Sabah state. Malaysian wildlife authorities said they had rescued a pygmy elephant calf on Borneo island and expressed hope a planned sanctuary would provide protection for the endangered animals. The male calf, which is less than a month old, was pulled out of a deep moat surrounding a palm oil plantation.

Freed Beagles Go Outside For The First Time

November 29th, 2011 4 comments

Words are too cheap to describe this video really, so just watch:

According to the :

These beagles have known nothing except the confines of metal cages. They have known no soft human touch, no warm bed, no companionship, no love. They have never been outside or sniffed a tree or grass. Finally, after years of being poked and prodded, these beagles are FREE!

We got the call that a facility was willing to release them to us after they had been used in several tests. We picked them up on June 8th and now they are all in loving foster homes, and one has already been adopted.

Two-Legged Chihuahua Puppies

March 10th, 2011 1 comment

They look like tiny kangaroos!

MSPCA is caring for these Chihuahua puppies born without any front legs: Open admission adoption centers never turn away an animal in need

The tiny puppies arrived at the MSPCA at Nevins Farm on February 22 after their owner passed away. The adoption center staff quickly assessed that the Chihuahuas were adapting to life without front legs and could be potential candidates for wheeled carts.

Kensi, Hetty, and G continue to show us that animals can overcome many of life’s difficulties if they are provided a chance.

Meet Ollie the Otter

December 10th, 2010 No comments

Why yes, that is the once-abandoned three-month-old sea otter named Ollie curled up for a nap on her rescuer Caitlin Dixon’s boots. And yes, it is actually, the cutest picture ever taken. And yes, there is a video.
