Oregon Zoo Is Shut Due To Heavy Snow…But The Animals Are LOVING It!

You know how excited the kids get when they have a snow day? It almost pales in comparison with the reaction of the animals at the Oregon Zoo in Portland.

Heavy snow fall prompted the zoo to close to the public for the day, but what that meant was one incredible snow day for some of the animals.

Sea otters, seals and even an Asian elephant name Samudra had a blast playing in the snow. But our favorite? A polar bear named Nora. She’s just plain old snow giddy!

I loved the seal patting his buddy when it emerged next to him. It was like he was saying “Dude, It’s safe! I promise! Go get the snack! It’s awesome!”

It doesn’t really snow that much in Portland, in fact, it’s downright unusual. The up to 12 inch of snow caused the zoo to shut down to the public, but essential animal-care staff reported for duty, a zoo spokeswoman said.

According to the spokeswoman, the staff videographer skied to the zoo to get this amazing footage.
