Bella the Dog Eating in Her Special Chair

Meet Bella, who has her very own little throne where she eats all her meals from.

This is our cute dog Bella. She was diagnosed with congenital megaesophagus soon after we found her at 4 months old. Megaesophagus means that her esophagus is enlarged and lacks the muscle mobility to swallow food while horizontal. This is her “Baileys Chair,” which she needs sit in while eating and for 10 minutes after she eats. She eats soft dog food with a little water mixed in. She is now seven months old and doing great!

Awww, totally LURV the “disabled pet hacks” themes, poor babies, but lucky they found smart humans to help them.

Never thought of carpeting! I love all the “outside the chair” designs that ME owners have come up with. So many options… Thank you for accepting the challenge of caring for a dog with ME and using creativity to find your solutions. ME dogs can be a handful, but once everything is figured out, it’s a piece of kibble!!!

I know how much love goes into designing and making those chairs. Cassiopeia lived for 2 more years after diagnosis at age 10 and it wasn’t ME that got her in the end (fast growing Mast Cell tumors). I’d do it all again in a heartbeat. Perhaps my next dog will be a ME rescue…

Enjoy many wonderful years to come!!!
