This is one of the most beautiful videos I’ve ever seen. The woman narrating the video describes the life of an elderly cat named Cinnamon in such a beautiful, poetic tone that you just can’t help but cry.
Abandoned at 17, after losing everything and being abused and mistreated, Cinnamon came to the The Orphan Pet shelter angry, confused and full of hatred. And while the staff at the Greek animal shelter thought that her days were counted, she didn’t just survive, against all odds, she thrived.
For months it seemed her life would just be a sad requiem — she didn’t really seem to be making any progress, at least not towards trusting people. The staff at the shelter did their very best to give her a warm and welcoming home to spend her final days, and for months they believed that was all they could do. But Cinnamon wanted more from life, and in the end she was brave enough to trust her new human friends!
Her story reminds me of this quote about letting yourself be loved:
“Let someone love you just the way you are — as flawed as you might be, as unattractive as you sometimes feel, and as unaccomplished as you think you are. To believe that you must hide all the parts of you that are broken, out of fear that someone else is incapable of loving what is less than perfect, is to believe that sunlight is incapable of entering a broken window and illuminating a dark room.”
